Travel Reflections: Torino, Italy

ivrea italyWhat experience was the most memorable?

Last June 19 we flew to Torino, Italy. And drove to Ivrea a small town, once famous for the Olivetti typewriters, now just a base for hiking and climbing the majestic mountains of the Aosta valley.

The main reason for our trip was a wedding, which was held in one of the historic castles of the region. The more than 250 guests helped to celebrate the event in the old chapel, the fairytale grounds and the castle itself. Following the festivities we went on a wonderful trip to Padova to visit the Cappella deli Scrovegni with Giotto’s magnificent frescos, and then Ravenna with the famous Mosaics. On the way west we stopped at Castello di Castle, one of the most beautiful resorts in the Tuscany’s countryside near Siena. This is the number 1 wedding destination in Europe.

This Castello was our base to enjoy some of the most gorgeous Tuscany’s medieval jewel towns, among others Faenza, San Giminiano, Montepulciano,Buonconvento, Montalcino featuring narrow cobble streets with flowers and great food displays everywhere, We enjoyed very much this section of Italy, land rich in history, blessed with
natural beauty, sprawling countryside, lush vineyards and friendly people. Overall In this trip we found a cleaner, more organized Italy irregardless of the flooding in some areas.
