Dante Alighieri Society of Denver Celebrates 40 Years of Promoting Italian Language and Culture
Denver, CO — June 20, 2025 — The Dante Alighieri Society of Denver is proud to announce the celebration of its 40th anniversary, marking four decades of unwavering commitment to promoting the Italian language, culture, and heritage throughout the Denver metropolitan area.
Founded in 1985, the Denver chapter of the internationally renowned Società Dante Alighieri has grown into a vibrant community hub that brings together individuals of all backgrounds with a shared passion for Italy's rich cultural legacy. As one of more than 480 Dante Alighieri chapters worldwide, the Denver Society has become a cornerstone of intercultural exchange in the Rocky Mountain region.
“For 40 years, our mission has been to build community through the love of Italian language, history, food, art, and music,” said John Giardino, President of the Dante Alighieri Society of Denver. “This milestone reflects the dedication of our volunteers, the enthusiasm of our members, and the enduring appeal of Italian culture.”
Over the past four decades, the Society has:
- Provided Italian language classes to thousands of students, from beginners to advanced speakers.
- Awarded more than $400,000 in scholarships to support students studying in Italy.
- Hosted hundreds of culinary classes, lectures, film nights, and social gatherings that celebrate the Italian spirit.
- Honored distinguished individuals with the Donna di Merito Award for exceptional contributions to Italian culture in Colorado.
