Learn more about the Small Villages of Italy
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish Hall - 3549 Navajo Street. Free Event

While thoughts of Italy conjure up ideas of Rome, Florence, Venice or Milan; there is so much more to see. Join us on Friday, October 18th when Daniela DeGarbo introduces us to the hidden gems of Italy. There is a surprise in each of Italy’s regions and Daniela will highlight the unique festivals, products, or culture that makes each of these lesser-known villages worth a visit.

Daniela is a true Italian, born in a town just North of Venice called Sacile. Italian is her native tongue and she welcomes an opportunity to use it. Daniela has been a travel consultant for over 20 years and specializes in planning customized vacations with special interests; such as history, music, art, etc. Her goal is to show her clients a little part of the Italian life, away from the major tourist sites. Just to name a few: Daniela has arranged a visit to the "Chocolate Festival" in Perugia, tours of the Villa del Casale and the Ville Venete. She has coordinated a working visit to an olive farm and vineyard, a bicycle tour in the hills near San Gimignano, spa visits to Merano and Montecatini, and a guided tour of a small town in Molise to find distant family members. Daniela visits her family and friends in Italy often and discovers new and different places each time.

Sharing his culinary skills and talents with us will be Adam Giardino. Adam graduated from the Colorado Institute of Art Culinary School in 1998. He worked in kitchens while in college and developed a love of cooking from his grandparents, Frank and Mary Giardino. After graduation, Adam lived in the San Francisco bay area and worked at a popular, 5 Star, Italian restaurant, Prima, in Walnut Creek, CA. He trained under Head Chef Giuseppe Ferrara who taught him everything he knew about Italian cooking This opportunity also gave Adam the chance to learn more about wines from the Prima’s sommelier and he began to take an interest in the wine, beer and spirits side of the restaurant business. Although he still loved to cook and  work in kitchens, the long hours working nights and weekends convinced him to train and become a brew master. Adam brewed beer professionally for about ten years and during this time earned a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival in Colorado. Adam now works for a liquor distribution company but continues to cook at home for his large family.
